The Android operating system uses the Linux kernel which uses higher
level APIs that are developed using the C language with its applications
running with the Dalvik virtual machine and programmed in JAVA ("Android
vs iOS - Difference and Comparison," n.d.) . IOS is based on its UNIX
kernel which contains several layers, but its applications are developed using
objective C (Gronli, Hansen, Ghinea, & Younas, 2014, p. 14).
